Andy Carmody oversees Tricon Residential’s U.S. residential development business, including Tricon’s build-to-rent communities and legacy land and homebuilding business. In this role, he oversees relationships with capital and development partners, sources new investment opportunities, and manages the investment team responsible for new investments, community development, and ongoing investment management. He is also responsible for Tricon’s master-planned community development platform operated through The Johnson Companies LP and leads Tricon’s sustainability initiatives company-wide, reinforcing Tricon’s commitment to enriching the lives of its residents and the communities in which they serve.
Andy has extensive experience in the acquisition, planning/design, development, and management of large-scale residential development communities and platforms. He has more than 25 years of diverse experience in real estate development, business development, product development, marketing, manufacturing, and operations across a wide range of industries. Prior to joining Tricon in 2017, Andy was President, Residential at Crescent Communities, where he led all aspects of business strategy, acquisitions, entitlements, planning and design, development and construction, asset management and operations across a portfolio of 18 master-planned and resort/destination communities. Prior to that, Andy was Senior Vice President at Kitson & Partners, responsible for investment strategy, land acquisition, and early-stage investment management for an institutionally-backed real estate investment platform. He has also held the roles of Director of Strategic and Operational Marketing at Centex Homes and Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm.
Andy also has significant experience in a variety of engineering roles, including as an Engineering Specialist at The Boeing Company and Plant Manager at Amerigon, Inc. He is a member of the Community Development Council of the Urban Land Institute.
Andy has a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Michigan.
